Uji Matcha and Chawan with ASAHIYAKI 朝日焼

We invite our friend from a famous local pottery kiln native to UJI “ASAHIYAKI” whom many of our tea community members might have already visited during trips to Kyoto.
To those who have not visited them yet, we have brought ASAHIYAKI to you!

* Learn about Uji tea and ceramics
* Chawan appreciation
* Uji matcha tastings
* Shopping Asahiyaki items

In this session, Matsubayashi san will talk about the history of Uji, Uji tea, and Uji ceramics through the perspective of Asahiyaki which has been operating since the 16th century.
It is worth learning the background of the people and tea culture landscapes from the Uji native himself.

Five types of Asahiyaki Chawan will be presented.
They are from the antique collection from previous generations.
Matsubayashi san will be teaching about “Chawan appreciation” such as points to notice details in Matcha bowls (Chawan).

There will also be a topic about Uji Clay which is uniquely used in Asahiyaki Chawan.
5- Uji matcha tastings with a casual Chakai (Matcha with sweets)
Ending with Q&A sessions and shopping time!
**Session will be in Japanese with English translation**
